Almond-crusted plum tart

R. and I received a sack full of tiny plums from the fruit share. Tiny, dark, and intensely flavored, these babies ended up tasting a lot like tart cherries when we finally got these pitted and cooked down. This is definitely one of the more ‘sophisticated’ desserts of late. The flavors are all pretty subtle and layered – the mild crunch and sweetness from the almonds and honey, the sticky jammy consistency of the plums, plus the slight tartness, elevates this dessert for the ‘adult’ audience.

Oh yea and there’s a touch of custard in the tart too. To take away some of the acidity and sourness of the plums.
